The release of ACCESS Linux Platform delayed

The release of the ACCESS Linux platform (ALP) for the smartphone has been delayed by at least 6-months. Earlier ACCESS (PalmSource) had said that its platform will be ready by the end of 2006 but an entry in its FAQ’s now has pushed the date ahead and the customers will not be able to lay their hand son the ALP devices for one more year.

Hold That Pose While I Get the Phone

The new enV phone from LG Electronics for Verizon gets the big picture — at least in one respect. It is the first LG phone to have a two-megapixel camera built in.

Faster version of 3G data speeds defined by CDG

The CDMA development group(CDG) wants the EV-DO speeds to touch the limits; in the latest release of the EV-DO Revision C they plan to pack the spectrum with all the mobile connectivity technologies available.

Palm Licenses Palm OS Garnet Source Code

The news sound to be good as Palm has made an agreement for Palm OS licensing. The company has decided to pay $44 million for life and has acquired the rights to use as well as to innovate on the Palm OS Garnet code base. Palm will retain ownership rights in its innovations. The new agreement also provides Palm flexibility to use Palm OS Garnet in whole or in part in any Palm product, and together with any other system technologies.

SANYO adopts MaxxVoice technology to improve handsfree service in mobile phones

Panasonic develops LSI system for mobile phones

Infineon delivers E-GOLDvoice chip platform for mobile phones

The Vice President and Managing Director of Infineon Technologies, Matthias Ludwig announced that the company is planning to start a production of its E-GOLDvoice chip, a single-chip solution for ultra-low-cost mobile phones.

Intel and Ericsson collaborate to develop mobile broadband PC market

A mobile PC with broadband seems quite exciting and this is the line in which Intel and Ericsson are thinking. They have come together to catch the niche in this market which they predict will grow immensely in the coming years.
