Nokia joins the 4G WiMAX core group

Nokia will be the fifth partner to join the four some duo of Sprint Nextel, Intel, Samsung and Motorola in the Sprint’s bid to provide 4G WiMAX mobility network as it wants to use its 2.5GHz spectrum asset.

Nokia’s main task will be to provide equipment and infrastructure for setting up of the WiMAX network which sprint says will cover 100 million people by 2008.

Nortel signs $2bn contract with Verizon Wireless to upgrade high speed network
